Nida's dynamic equivalence in language and communicative aspects (on the examples of English translations of A. S. Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin")

Nida's method of dynamic equivalence assumes that one finds language compliances between elements of various languages (original and target). However, Nida himself states in his works that exact linguistic data can not form the basis for finding an exact dynamic equivalent. This basis, according to the author of the article, is represented by the communicative situation, which is identically imaginable beyond the language data. Thus, Russian word берег (Onegin, 4:35) shows that the author's communicative action gives a translator a wide choice of opportunities: the translator can totally reject the couple берег - shore, bank, or transfer the coast situationally, by default, or use the explicit instruction by means of a separate word.
