The dynamics of anthropometric indices during bifocal distraction leg osteogenesis in patients with congenital limb shortening

Segmental circumference at the level of upper, middle and lower thirds was measured during bifocal distraction osteosythesis of leg bones at different stages of treatment for the leg congenital shortening. Using the indices, the volume of the segment, imagined as combination of two truncated cones, was determined. As a result of the measurements the data were obtained, which confirmed the fact, that not tension of soft tissues, but their growth took place during lengthening, that means that the indices of respective volume are close to the initial indices.
