The dynamics of the value of patriotism among Russian students in 2014-2022

The article analyzes the dynamics of the value of patriotism among Russian students in 2014-2022. The paper established that until 2014, patriotism was not included in the group of core values of all generations of Russians. The state youth policy began to emphasize the value of patriotism after the reunification of Crimea with Russia. After the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, opinion polls recorded an increase in patriotism among all groups of the population. Among the students, there was the greatest polarization in the assessment of patriotism. About 80% of students demonstrate commitment to patriotism, about 20% critically assessed the value of patriotism. This ratio confirms the conclusions previously obtained by the author about the types of political self-identification of young people. The value of patriotism is formed under the influence of institutions of spontaneous and directed socialization. During the period of geopolitical confrontation with the collective West, there is a conflict of traditional and globalist values. Patriotism is a basic traditional value; therefore, it becomes an element of the agenda of the state youth policy.
