Dynamics of the number of the burghers in Tambov Province in the second half of the 19th century

The article examines the number of the bourgeois class in Tambov province in the second half of the 19th century, which is an important aspect of studying the social structure of that time. The burghers (meshchane), who represented the urban middle class, played a significant role in the economic and cultural life of the province. Based on statistical materials, the authors analyze the dynamics of changes in the class composition of the urban population. In addition, the article examines the factors that influenced the changes in the numerical composition of burghers.
