The article analyzes the statistical data of the Arkhangelsk Region for the period 2017–2023 and assesses the current situation to determine the dynamics of wages – the main source of income of the region's population; it reveals the steady growth of average monthly accrued wages with accelerating rates in recent years. The analysis has identified a significant sectoral differentiation in labor remuneration; we define lagging and outperforming industries. We carry out the comparative study of the dynamics of wage growth, regional inflation, gross regional product and labor productivity in the Arkhangelsk Region, and determine the consistency of the region's indicators with the national values. We reveal the economic characteristics of the Arkhangelsk Region in dynamics in relation to the average level in the country on the basis of a set of our relative indicators. The paper identifies the key factors determining the dynamics, trends and prospects of changes in wages in the Arkhangelsk Region, among the wage growth factors, the main place is occupied by the recent industrial activation, accompanied by the growth of GRP, as well as the shortage of personnel, especially highly qualified. Unsatisfied and ever-increasing demand for labor became the cause of inflation growth, which hinders economic growth in the region and worsens the quality of life of its population. Taking into account the identified trends and factors, we formulate proposals to ensure sustainable growth of labor remuneration in the region. The study involved official materials of the website of the Department of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Arkhangelsk Region (all calculations were made without taking into account the data of the Nenets Autonomous Area) and for the Russian Federation
