Dynamics and Prospects of Rapeseed Production in the Russian Federation and the Oryol Region

The article analyzes the dynamics of rapeseed production in the Russian Federation and the Orel region in the period from 2019 to 2024. The relevance of the study is due to the growing demand for this oilseed crop both in the domestic and foreign markets, which is confirmed by Russia's entry into the second place in the world in rapeseed oil exports. The results of the study demonstrate a significant increase in acreage and gross harvest of winter rapeseed in the whole country. In particular, the acreage in the Russian Federation increased from 156 thousand hectares in 2019 to 419 thousand hectares in 2023. The analysis for the Orel region revealed even higher growth rates: during the study period, the gross harvest of crops increased by 391.55%. Despite some variability in yields due to weather conditions, the overall trend remains positive.
