Dynamics and structure of agricultural production in Zabaikalsky Krai

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of agriculture development in Zabaikalsky Krai for 2019-2023. Based on data from the Federal State Statistics Service, we have identified key trends in regional agribusiness. It has been proven that with an overall increase in the value of agricultural production by 22.9%, there is a steady decrease in real indicators: sown areas decreased by 12.1%, livestock population - by 3.931.3% for different species. Particular attention is paid to the crisis in livestock farming (71.4% of total production), where production volumes decreased by 7.6-39.2%. In crop farming, despite a 61% increase in grain yields, potato (-41%) and forage crops (-48.3%) production decreases. In the last few years the number of agricultural enterprises in Zabaikalsky Krai decreased by 36.7%. Given this there is a need for significant efforts to bring the region's agriculture out of the crisis. We emphasizes the importance of developing a comprehensive support program, including measures to modernize production, develop processing infrastructure and encourage the influx of personnel into the industry. The preservation of traditional fine-wool sheep breeding as an element of cultural heritage and a promising area of export specialization in the region is of particular importance.
