The article considers the content and the functions of prospective teacher personal competence on the basis of analysis of the main categories of competence approach. It also deals with the place of individual-oriented abilities in its structure. The paper presents the results of the author study of the dynamics of the individual- oriented abilities of students of a pedagogical institute of higher education.
