Dynamics of values of students’ organizational commitment in the educational organization of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs

Introduction. Under consideration are the changes in loyalty of learners of the educational organization of higher education of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs during the five years’ period. The problem is relevant due to the increasing tendency of young law enforcement specialists’ leaving the profession and some learners’ intention not to continue their professional activity in the chosen sphere. Materials and Methods. The empirical study with longitude method enabled the authors to make two measurements of indicators of organizational loyalty with an interval of two and a half years. The following methods were employed: N. Allen and J. Meyer questionnaire “Organizational Commitment Scale”; L. G. Pochebut and O. E. Koroleva “Method of Assessing Employee’s Loyalty to the Organization”; Baranskaya S. S. “Method of Measuring Commitment”. The study involved two groups of respondents: the first one (N=30) consisted of those aged from 18 to 20; the second one (N=30) covered 19-year-olds to 21-year-olds. Results and Discussion. Reliable dynamics of organizational loyalty of students, their commitment to the chosen profession and university at various stages of education are established. The most significant change in affective, normative, organizational and professional loyalty are revealed during the first three years of learning characterized by the decrease of average values (р≤0,001) from the “high” level to the “low” level. By the fifth year the values increase and are stabilized at the level of the lower bound of the norm. Conclusions. The learners’ loyalty in the educational organization of higher education of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is a dynamic formation in the structure of personality orientation connected with a set of moral ethical attitudes and depends on the period of learning at university. Monitoring and managing the states of students’ loyalty make it possible to solve a complex of problems of moral, psychological and pedagogical support for the educational activities of students in educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
