The purpose of the article is to provide an up-to-date overview of the purchasing power of the working population in the Russian regions in the period 2007-2023. The analysis used the Purchasing Power Coefficient (PPC) calculated as the ratio of average wages to the value of a fixed set of consumer goods and services (on average and by decile groups of employees). It was found that despite the overall positive trends (the average PPC increased, and the number of the poorest regions reduced), the growth of purchasing power is uneven among the regions. In addition, the worker’s purchasing power remains highly dependent on his wage’s decile group. By 2023, in most regions 10% of workers are still unable to afford even one full fixed set of goods.
