The article presents analysis of the mortality and life expectancy of men and women in the Republic of Crimea in 2008-2013. Mortality rate of men is higher than that of women, particularly from respiratory diseases, injuries and poisonings. The highest male mortality was observed in the young and active working age. It has been found out that life expectancy depends on the socio-economic development of a country. Calculations given in the article show that GDP per capita is responsible for about 85% of the changes in the average life expectancy of men.
