Dynamics of the exile space in Klaus Mann's novel “The volcano”

The article deals with various aspects of interaction of space and plot in Klaus Mann’s novel “The Volcano”. The author of the article considers the phenomenon of the exile space which in the axiological aspect is inverted to the space model existing in classic forms of the myth. The author analyses the main trend of dynamic processes in the exile space, namely the expansion of the “negative» central part of the space which causes big scale and small scale events in the novel. A special group of characters is considered to be “cultural heroes” who appeared as a counterbalance for the expansion. The main ideas of the article concern not only the space dynamics in Klaus Mann’s novel “The Volcano” but also various aspects of the interaction of the space and the plot in the exile novel.
