Since the early 1990s, the concept of sustainable development has been approved in the register of main priorities of the global agenda for world economic development. Within the framework of the Agenda for the period up to 2030 agreed by the UN member countries in 2015, 17 goals that entered into force on January 1, 2016 were approved. In 2017 countries supported the system of indicators proposed by the UN Statistical Commission to monitor the implementation of national sustainable development goals by countries. The article makes a comparative analysis of the Russian results compiled by Rosstat according to international criteria from 2019 in the Russian Statistical Yearbook and additionally used indicators characterizing the country's economic development. The study concludes that the underestimation of the economy of the knowledge is one of the most vulnerable links of modern Russian state economic policy which restrains the growth of human capital and determines the preservation of stagnation processes.
