This study introduces the transformational process as cultural reality. In this article author extends a framework for the study of culture-cognition transitional reality to problems of structural and comparative analysis of cultural adaptation and survival. This research shows models of social transformations and adaptation in transitional culture based on concepts of “binary opposition”. Institutional and imaginative transformations (two levels of cultural reality) examine two areas of cultural development - crisis and stationary areas. Each area has its binary order in structure of culture. The article explains how changes predispose to cultural growth and what can support sustainable development of the society. The author presents models or stages of cultural transitions. The areas are situated on the axes of binary opposition - spheres of imagination (unstructured) and institutionalization. The transitional cycle of cultural transformation constitutes two transitional sectors - stable and crisis development of culture.
