The diplomatic correspondence and treaties between Russia and Persia 1588-1607: background and methods of working with sources

The article introduces readers to the historiographical works and the main methods of work in identifying the complex of diplomatic correspondence and treaties between Russia and Persia in 1588-1607. Despite the existence of a number of fundamental historiographical works on this topic, the diplomatic sources of this period in the practice of source studies and in the field of diplomacy have not been sufficiently studied. Among the studied archival documents are five Persian ambassadorial books, letters of commendation and sources in the column form of office work. The subject of the study is the information contained in these documents. Paleographic and formulary analyses are applicable to these sources. These analyses allow us to draw a conclusion about the degree of authenticity of the act, to determine the features of its structure and style.
