The topicality of article is caused by the fact that works of the Spanish writer Helena Cosano never before became a research object in Russian literary criticism. The collection of short stories “Magical Souls” (2013) which became of Ruben Dario prize winner for literature is subject of the analysis. The author of article analyses Helena Cosano's texts in terms of critical discourse analysis. Modern discourse analysis schools confirm that the structure of texts is presented today by a number of discourses which interact among themselves. The analysis of the system of the discourses in the collection of short stories “Magical Souls”, the author of article comes to the point that the madness discourse dominates over and represents the madness concept in all aspects: morbid impulse to other person as madness; madness of creativity; madness of the individualist; madness as demonian possession; madness as result of penetration into the other world. The author comes to the point that the Spanish writer combines in the texts the German madness concepts and the Spanish one. The German metaphor of madness as a form of the spiritual knowledge mix well with the Spanish concept of madness as God's blessing. The alliance of both concepts of madness, coupled with Carl Gustav Jung and Sigmund Freud's doctrines about the nature of unconscious, give unique alloy which defines the author's style of the Spanish writer.
