Discourse marker типа in dialogic discourse: functional and pragmatic aspect

Discourse markers can be considered as the units typical of dialogic discourse. They structure the discourse, carry out its marking, convey additional shades of meaning and contribute to the expression of communicators' intentions. Discourse markers perform both primary and auxiliary pragmatic functions, act in loose connection with each other and can occupy different positions in an utterance. These units are found in descriptions, narratives, indirect speech, internal monologues and dialogues. The study of discourse marker типа functioning in dialogic discourse is conducted with the help of functional and pragmatic approach which allows to specify its meaning in relation to other units. The article investigates the functional potential of the discourse marker типа, namely its structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics. The pragmatic meanings of this discourse marker are actualized in the context. Contextual analysis, corpus analysis, as well as methods of classification and systematization of the linguistic material are used in the work. The discourse marker типа in the Russian language demonstrates isomorphic functions in the aspect of actualization of functional-pragmatic potential. As a result of the study 12 pragmatic functions of the discourse marker типа in the Russian language have been identified and described. The diversity of pragmatic functions of this marker indicates the multifunctional nature of discourse markers and dialogic discourse in general. The prospects of the research include the analysis of the functioning of discourse markers in different types of discourse. This will help to make an "inventory" of lexical and grammatical material which is important for the process of successful communication, and to obtain material that will improve the existing descriptions of the semantics of these units.
