В статье рассматриваются подходы к пониманию Английской революции XVII века в современной британской исторической науке. К настоящему времени, как показано в статье, заметно уменьшилось научное влияние и признание прогрессистских подходов к пониманию Английской революции, представляемых в двух версиях либеральными историками и историками-марксистами. Для либеральной и марксистской парадигм также характерно стремление к обобщениям, которое к 1980-м гг. стало менее убедительным для большинства британских историков. Автор проанализировал особенности оказавшего заметное влияние в последние десятилетия ревизионистского направления в изучении причин Английской революции и пришел к выводу, что в современной британской исторической науке в рассмотрении данных проблем влиятельны историки, призывающие учитывать специфические особенности исторической ситуации и придерживающиеся индивидуализирующих подходов в понимании истории.
