Designing functional zones on tourist objects: the basic principles and trends

The article raises an important issue connected with the experience economy development, the design of functional zones of tourist facilities. We can note that the nominal presence of functional areas in a tourist site or territory does not guarantee its success and attractiveness for tourists, and does not always help in solving key problems related to the logistics of tourist flow and guest satisfaction. The article is aimed at determining the key principles of the design of functional zones in tourist complexes and allocation of the leading trends in this matter. For this purpose, the we have studied literary, scientific and other open sources of information, and have conducted large-scale field study of tourist sites and tourism-related enterprises. This allowed us to identify the basic functional zones of tourism enterprises and the most important requirements for their design. The research made it possible to formulate the key trends model in designing functional zones, considering the impact of experience economy on tourism sector, to characterize the key groups of identified trends and illustrate them by the examples. In the modern tourism industry, strongly influenced by the experience economy, the means of designing the tourist environment are of particular importance; they are able to create the necessary tourist satisfaction, and therefore contribute to the domestic tourism development as a whole.
