Personal insurance policy of professional athletes

The study discusses the legal regulation of the personal insurance policy of professional athletes. A number of laws and regulations in the field of professional sports are considered. The research analyzes the rules governing life and health insurance of professional athletes. It reveals the problem and disadvantages of the current legislation. Based on personal insurance practices of professional athletes, the author concludes that it is possible to adopt a special federal law to regulate the field of professional sports, including life and health insurance of professional athletes, since the current legislation is aimed at regulating sports in general and provides binding assurance only for ordinary citizens. It is noted that compulsory personal insurance of professional athletes should be enshrined in such a law. In particular, it should include life and health insurance policy, occupational accident insurance policy, and disability insurance policy. The emphasis should be on terms and amount of insurance benefits if an insured loss occurs.
