Donors of the basic economic traits in creation of an initial material for breeding of sunflower hybrids adapted to the conditions of Low Volga region. Bochkovoj A.D., R.S. Nasarov. Studying of 47 sunflower samples (12 OP varieties, 13 inter-line hybrids and 12 self-pollinated lines). for main breeding trait set and resistance to the pathogens were conducted. The most perspective variety samples for Low Volga conditions are: • ·in breeding for short vegetative period -variety SUR, self-pollinated lines VK- 276 and VK-571; • ·in breeding for high productivity and oil content - variety Voronezhskiy 638; • ·in breeding for high productivity, high oil content and resistance to Oro- banche - varities R-453 (Rodnik)., Lakomka, and Master, sterile hybrids Kubanskiy 48 and Kubanskiy 93; • ·in breeding for complex resistance to Downy Mildew - hybrid Temp; • ·in breeding for high oil content - line VK-580; in creation of synthetics for breeding of second cycle lines - self-pollinated lines VK-464, VK-830, VA-93, and VK-580.
