"Worthy results": archbishop Boris at the head of the Kuban diocese

The author regards the activities of Archbishop Boris (secular name - Boris Ivanovich Vic, 1906-1965) at the head of the Kuban diocese. The chronological framework of the study is the period of Khrushchev's "thaw", when the state policy towards the Church was tightened in comparison with the previous "Stalin's religious Renaissance". The archival materials, including reports on S. Babushkin, the Commissioner in Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Krasnodar region from the collections of the State archive of Krasnodar region are used. They make it possible to identify the temporary mitigation of the control under the Church, which took place in 1954-1962. These eight years were a kind of period of "calm before the storm". The author pays attention to some facts that testify to a certain strengthening of the Church's status at this moment. Archbishop Boris contributed to his process by his relentless pursuits.
