Subsidies for equalizing the budgetary provision of the subjects of the Russian Federation as a tool to reduce inter-regional differentiation

The article substantiates the relevance of ensuring the financial independence of the regions at the present stage of development. Based on the results of the assessment of the differentiation of Russian regions in terms of tax revenues, it was concluded that there is excessive inequality. One of the mechanisms of budget equalization is subsidies from the federal budget to the budgets of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The results of the analysis of the dynamics of subsidies for equalizing budget provision and the gap in budget provision levels between the regions of Russia are presented. It is concluded that there is a significant leveling effect resulting from the provision of subsidies to the subjects of the Russian Federation.
