Trust of citizens in the police institution: public mechanisms for strengthening

The work reveals the theoretical foundations and justifies the content of public mechanisms to strengthen citizens' confidence in the police institution, as an indicator of assessing public opinion about the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. It is shown that the safety of life, protection from crime - the systemically important need of a person, team, society. The reasons for distrust of the police are revealed, which find grounds in the social psychology of people and in the multiplicity of the Russian social stratum of crime. It is proved that the work of building confidence in the police institution is a complex humanitarian problem. The composition and essence of the main public mechanisms for building citizens' confidence in the institution of the police are presented: political, legal, economic, public responsibility, public control, information, publicity, traditions. Targeted practical recommendations are made to federal executive authorities to strengthen citizens' confidence in the police institution
