Trust as a resource for changing social practices and institutions of contemporary Russian society

The relevance of the problem is due to a burst of research interest to the problem of trust. An objective assessment of the possible prospects for the growth of trust among social practices and institutions is necessary. The article highlights the theoretical and methodological problems of studying social practices and institutions and the potential of trust as a resource of their change in modern Russian society is clarified. The question of the relationship between the institution and social practices explored. The principle of syncretism is used. This principle allows synthesizing activity and institutional approaches, the concept of «background» and «disclosure» of practices, as well as structuralist-constructivist, structuralist and ethnomethodological concepts of social practices. In this case social practices are viewed as repertoires of social actions and interactions performed by subjects that ensure the stable functioning or transformation of social institutions, and generate new social institutions. The authors point to theoretical and methodological difficulties arising from the use of interpretations of confidence that are available in foreign literature in relation to Russian specifics. It is concluded that the use of the principle of contextuality. The mental attitudes as barriers to the development of confidence are advocated in modern Russian society. The nature, grounds and ways to overcome these barriers are explored. Practical institutionalization of trust is possible in connection with the formation of a variety of social, political and economic institutional and civil forms. The results of the research can be used to solve a certain range of social problems, when developing models of social management and drawing up social programs that take into account the social normative significance and social effect of trust.
