On the material of archival sources, the article touches the issues of restoration of the Buddhist monasteries in Buryatia on the base of the regulated documents in the context of the social, political and economic realities in the post-war period. After the years of repression, the representatives of Buddhist clergy in Buryatia continued to consider that the Buddhist theory and practice are in close connection with ethno-cultural traditions of the Buryat ethnos having the general historical and genetic roots not only with metaethnic Mongolian community (Hamag Mongol), but also in adjacent ethnoses adhering the Buddhist culture throughout many centuries.
