Lomonosov’s spiritual ode: literary context and religious content

The article by P.E. Bukharkin presents a brief research of Lomonosov’s poetic legacy with the accent on the spiritual ode genre. The first part of the article demonstrates various genre variants of spiritual ode reflected in the Russian poet’s work and analyzes their poetics (metrics, stanzaic prosody, style) in the correlation with the specific “ode delight”. The spiritual ode genre is noted to be a completely specific world of Lomonosov’s religious perception. The second part of the article mentions the Lomonosov’s concrete odes as an example of the topics which are important to him: God the Creator shining in the man and the world and also God’s providence abiding in the cosmos.
