The research discusses the impact of Eastern and Western globalism on modern ethnocultural processes. Nowadays, the East-West dichotomy is studied not in terms of the opposition of cultural and religious traditions but as a manifestation and overlay (or rejection) of various identities. There are both overall and specific trends in dealing with ideological, political, religious, social and economic issues at the present stage of the cultural identity development of every people in the Russian Federation. The purpose of the study is to analyze the effect of Eastern and Western globalism on the culture of the peoples of the North Caucasus in the context of social and political as well as social and cultural realities. The societies preserving the spiritual and moral values and ethnic traditions are the only ones that can resist the unifying phenomena of globalization that reduce the values of ethnic traditions. In this regard, the role of the humanities is reinforced while developing both ethnic and civil identity of the peoples of the Russian Federation. The approaches of cultural science allow one to study modern processes in the North Caucasus in a wide sociocultural global and local range.
