The article presents the theoretical position of somerussian and foreign scientists on the functional purposeof mass-media and its reflection in the professional practice of journalism.the author also examines some aspectsof moral landmarks of the domestic regional press in terms of its matching with the globalisation trends, based onthe results of her own research of axiological paradigms of Volga region print media.russian regional media havehappened to be fully incorporated into the global system of mass communication, and it affected their content in acertain way, form, and creative approach to the presentation of information products.
