The manuscript of the general plan of lectures and the summary of the second lecture of the course “Worldview and character”, read by Ivan Aleksandrovich Ilyin at the oratorical department at the State Institute of Speech (the summary of the first lecture was previously published in No. 1 of “Russian Philosophy” 2021), is published. The manuscript is kept in the archive of the Scientifical Library of Moscow State University (DRB&M. F. 47. Op. 1. D. 522. “Worldview and character”. A course of lectures. Preparatory materials for the course. The composition of the seminar. 1920-1923). The published summary of the second lecture of the course “Worldview and character” was not written by I. A. Ilyin. Probably, the synopsis belonged to one of the students of the course, that is indicated not only by the visual discrepancy with Ivan Alexandrovich’s handwriting, but also by the presence of grammatical errors, pencil corrections (strikeouts, question marks, curly brackets most likely added by Ilyin later). The lecture summary, apparently, was written in “real time” mode, since it often contains unfinished sentences that fit poorly with the subsequent text, and there are also many punctuation errors. It is written in blue ink on yellowed sheets of paper, the text is barely visible. In the archive folder where this synopsis was found, you can find a general plan of lectures of the course “Worldview and character” prepared by Ilyin. Due to the absence of other summaries reflecting the content of the discipline, we attach the general plan of lectures to the mentioned summary to create a complete picture of the course.
