Ye. N. Meshalkin, the founder of clinical physiology in the Soviet Union and Russia

The article highlights that part of Academician Ye.N. Meshalkin's biography which is associated with the formation of the main area of his research activities in the sphere of cardiac surgery.The meetings and subsequent cooperation with S.S. Briukhonenko and Academicians V.V. Parin, Ye.B. Babsky and V.S. Gurfinkel persu aded Ye.N. Meshalkin of the need to establish clinical physiology laboratories within a cardiac surgery center.
