This paper deals with the concept of cultural unity of Europe produced by T.S.Eliot, a Nobel Prize winner (1948), outstanding poet, playwright and critic of the 20th century. The material of this research includes the following works: The Idea of a Christian Society, Notes towards the Definition of Culture, The Unity of European Culture, Goethe as the Sage and others. The research focuses on Eliot's interpretation of such issues as «the mind of Europe», «politics and culture», «a European myth-hero», «frontiers of European cultural oikoumena», «Christianity and European culture», «common European cultural tradition», etc. Some historical, aesthetic, biographic aspects of Eliot's «European idea» are considered.
