The Egyptians neglectful of their parentage

By the time of the Vth and VIth royal dynasties among the ruling class of Ancient Egypt, only the closest ties of blood, often restricted to a core (nuclear) family, were considered important. The author argues that widespread was also the neglect of one's duties towards the funerary cults of even the closest relatives, and puts forward some tentative explanations for it.
