The protection of historical and cultural monuments is one of the major challenges of modern time. This problem is strongly emphasized in Moscow. There are buildings that have been repaired, renovated, and reconstructed but have not lost their historical and cultural value. The study deals with the history of the house located at 14 Tverskaya St., Moscow. The building has an almost 250-year history. It was constructed by an outstanding architect of the era of classicism M.F. Kazakov and reconstructed by the architects A.V. Weber, G.V. Baranovsky and others. The author examines the changes in the style of the building made at different times on the order of homeowners. In the late 19th - early 20th centuries, the premises were rebuilt as a food hall of the trade house by the Brothers Yeliseev. The focus of the research is explained by the nationwide status of the historical and cultural monument under review. In 2014-2015, a detailed scientific restoration of the building faces was carried out; they were restored to the appearance of the late 19th - early 20th centuries.
