The article traces the stages of development of the dioceses of the South-West of Rus’ with centers in Vladimir Volynskiy, Galich, Yuryev, Peremyshl’, Tmutarakan’, Ugrovsk / Holm during the X-XIIIth centuries. It considers such aspects as time, place and circumstances of the creation of the chair, restored the lists of the ruling bishops, analyzes the relationship of bishops with Ducal power. A feature of Church development of the region in the studied period is the instability of the Episcopal organizations of the region, the instability of boundaries and naming of dioceses, which differ according to the duration of the terms of vacant pulpits. List of the bishops, during their stay in the Department and Episcopal activities, could be restored only partially because are known precedents of displacement and exile of bishops. The heyday of the southern dioceses was during the period of the reign of Daniel and Vasyl’ko Romanovich due to the tendency to rapprochement with the papal throne, and to the isolation of the region from the all-Russian Church processes.
