ESG-principles as a tool for integrated sustainable development of rural areas

The article discusses the possibility of applying ESG principles, popular in the commercial sphere, as a tool for the integrated development of rural areas of the state. The current federal legislation, which regulates the development of rural areas, has been studied. The authors group measures supporting villages, which are currently being provided by all levels of government in the Russian Federation. On the basis of current regulations, modern content of the ESG-principles is disclosed in detail, taking into account the existing theoretical and methodological approaches to their use. The article considers theoretical problems in the field of elaboration of the conceptual apparatus for such ideas as: rural areas, sustainable development ofrural areas. As a part of the study, a comprehensive assessment of the current status of rural areas of the state in general and individual regions in particular, was carried out. The possibility of applying ESG principles in the development of rural areas is substantiated, and a model for managing the integrated development of rural areas is proposed, which is a system of interrelated elements of the ESG model and components of sustainable development. The article describes the components of the proposed model of ESGEH- principles, the advantages of its use. The results of the study can be applied in the development of documents for short-term, medium-term and long-term planning in the development of rural areas of the Russian Federation, in regions and municipalities. It can be also introduced into the activities of commercial organizations in villages.
