The article compares the cultural essence of natural and artificial intelligence (NI and AI). Significant differences between these phenomena are revealed, which are interpreted as reasons for the impossibility of forming a “strong” type of AI. Machine intelligence does not have freedom, therefore it is limited in development; it does not have moral agency, creativity (as a form of cognition of the surrounding reality and as an ability to create), adaptability, emotional intelligence, and the ability to learn. AI has not acquired these properties, since it has been developing for a much shorter time than NI and is subject to programs and algorithms, while the main evolutionary achievement of NI, which ensures its success, is the ability to overcome stereotypes, go beyond the boundaries, strive for independence and freedom. At the same time, AI is an integral component of the modern cultural space, has acquired the properties of a cultural phenomenon and valuenormative certainty.
