The article deals with The Russian Monk and Alyosha in Fedor Dostoevsky’s novel The Brothers Karamazov as hagiographic texts that continue traditions of Old Russian literature and incorporates confession, preaching, solemn word, sermon, hymns, prayers, memories disciple about the teacher and spiritual testament. These books are opposed Ivan Karamazov`s poem The Grand Inquisitor, which is based on the traditions of the genre of Western European literature.
