F. M. Dostoevsky through the prism of revolutionary journalism by D. S. Merezhkovsky, 1905-1921

The article retraces the dynamics of D.S. Merezhkovsky’s attitude to judgments and concept by Dostoevsky on relevant issues in the early XX century: the people, the intelligentsia, the revolutionary movement, the autocracy, etc. - and also shows the change of optics known symbolist against the author of the “Devils” during the first revolutionary decades. The following works of Merezhkovsky are considered: “The Coming of Ham” (1905), “The Prophet of the Russian revolution” (1906), “Revolution and religion” (1907), “Demon or God?” (1908), “The pale Horse” (1909), “Two of renunciation” (1911), “Gorky and Dostoevsky” (1913), “Not Holy Russia (Gorky Religion)” (1916), articles from newspapers “Day”, “Russian word”, “Future”, “Our century”, “Evening bells”, “New speech”, “New news” (1917-1918), “The notebook 1919-1920”, “The kingdom of the Antichrist. The bolsheviks, Europe and Russia” (1921), “Fyodor Dostoevsky. 1821-1921” (1921). The texts of the newspaper by D.S. Merezhkovsky of 1917-1918, that were founded by A.A. Kholikov for the 20-volumes complete works by symbolist writer and were kindly provided by to the author of this article.
