Factor analysis of the dynamics of the regional situation in the North Caucasus in terms of human capital

Although the North Caucasus ceased to be a priority topic of the media in the past three years, the situation in the region has not become sufficiently more stable. Some real reduction of tension in the region is mainly due to the activities of the power structures. The inertia of those measures is almost exhausted, and since the end of 2015 there has been an escalation of tension. In order to identify the causes of the maintenance and reproduction of tension, extremism and terrorism, the authors made a factorial analysis of the regional situation. On a basis of the analysis, they shows causes of escalation of tension in the North Caucasus. Those factors significantly affect the quality of human capital, which is the most important resource in the densely populated North Caucasus region. The research materials ascertain the gradual depreciation of the productive characteristics of the human capital, and its professional deterioration. The result is the formation of additional socio-psychological, emotional and subjective conditions, on the one hand, for the stagnation of the regional economy, on the other, for the maintenance of radical, extremist and terrorist sentiments in the region.
