Influence of the spatial organization of a society (settlement of population) on the demographic development is considered in this article. The theoretical bases of the article are connected with substantiation of the unity of an urban-rural continuum, in which the function of reproduction of the population is mainly fixed to rural areas. Recognition of the existence of such unity brings about rather important for the demographic development limitations of the process of urbanization and reduction in the number of rural population. Achievement of the level of natural minimum means the complete loss by a rural community of the ability for reproduction and the increasing need for a new territory settling.
