Factors of innovative development in ensuring economic security of the region

The aim of the work is to identify the factors influencing innovation activities in the region. In the course of the work, the authors used: general scientific methods: comparisons and analogies, analysis and synthesis. The conducted analysis of innovation activities of the Vladimir region showed negative trends in the main indicators of innovation development of the region, which is noted as a threat to economic security in terms of reducing the competitiveness of enterprises in the Vladimir region. The factors hindering the development of innovation activities of the Vladimir region were identified as: a decrease in costs for research and development; a reduction in the number of personnel engaged in research and development; a 2-fold decrease in the share of costs for innovation activities in the total volume of goods shipped, etc. Factors having a positive impact on the innovative development of the region noted an increase in the innovative activity of small enterprises of the Vladimir region (an increase in costs for innovation activities of small enterprises by more than 2 times compared to 2019). The work also revealed a contradiction between the existing structure of the regional economy of the Vladimir region and the requirement to ensure its innovation and competitiveness. The results obtained can be used by regional government bodies when adjusting state policy in the field of innovation and investment activities, as well as by specialists studying this issue.
