Factors of ethnic identity and sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the north in the context of a multi-ethnic structure in Yakutia

The article deals with the issue of sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the North in Yakutia through the prism of studying ethnic markers as factors that ensure the preservation of a unique grou p with a specific lifestyle. The author uses the sociological research methodology. The features of the ethnic identity of the indigenous peoples of the North are characterized by conducting a comparative analysis of the data of several sociological studies, in which the author of the article was a direct participant. It is found out that the perception of ethnic identity among the peoples living in Yakutia varies, which is due to the regional ethno-social and historical-cultural context. The differences in the importance of ethnic markers for different peoples are revealed, and the question about limits of stability of the modern regional ethno-social process is raised on this basis. The conclusion is made about the relationship between the level of ethnic identity and sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the North. A set of key factors is identified, the support and preservation of which at the personal, group and state level are important.
