Aim. To provide a comprehensive review of the latest scientific research on the factors contributing to success in martial arts. Materials and Methods. To gather information, a literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, eLibrary, and Cyberleninka. Special attention was paid to original research published in reputable journals between 1991 and 2023. Results. The second part of the review underscores the importance of various contributory factors beyond mere anthropometric and physical ones. Specifically, the significance of technical-tactical and psychological factors in athletic performance has emerged as a pivotal area of interest in recent studies. The training methodologies employed for Russian athletes are designed to enhance the individual, typological strengths inherent in each athlete. Conversely, foreign coaching strategies emphasize the enhancement of attacking actions. Furthermore, the role of psychological factors in determining competitive outcomes cannot be underestimated, particularly among elite athletes with comparable competitive experience, physical conditioning, and technical and tactical skills. Conclusion. An effective training management system in martial arts is only possible with strict control of the factors influencing sports performance.
