Factors of adolescent victimization in the process of socialization

Currently, under the influence of unfavorable factors of the social environment, increased victimization of adolescents as one of the vulnerable categories is typical. A multifactorial analysis of the research problem is conducted. The conceptual apparatus of the study is disclosed: victim behavior, victimization, victimization. The features of victim behavior are considered. The issue of the role of law enforcement agencies in the aspect of the research problem under consideration is updated. The factors of secondary victimization are analyzed, the process of polyvictimization is described, the concept of “victim blaming” is disclosed. The factors influencing the victimization of adolescents, as well as the characteristics of adolescence, the qualities of the teenager’s personality that contribute to the formation of their victimization are considered in detail. Unfavorable conditions of socialization that contribute to the greatest risk of victimization of adolescents are identified: orphanhood, dysfunctional family, domestic violence, parental alcoholism, bullying, lack of a comfortable and safe educational environment, involvement in antisocial and criminal groups. The negative function of the information environment as a factor of destructive influence on the development of personality and behavior of adolescents is considered. It is concluded that unfavorable factors of socialization increase the victimization of adolescents. For effective prevention of adolescent victimization, it is necessary to integrate the efforts of all subjects of prevention: the state, society, institutions and agents of socialization.
