In the article fundraising as the instrument of attraction financial resources in non-profit organizations is considered, features of its application in the sphere of culture and art are described. There is considered evolution of the fundraising terminology in America and Russia, the reasons of its late formation of our country is explained. The structure of financing sources in the system of fundraising for bringing both domestic and foreign examples is in detail studied. Stages, features of realization and specific of efficient assessment of a fundraising campaign in the institution of culture and art are distinguished. The conclusion is as a result drawn that the institution of fundraising in the sphere of culture and art in Russia is a peculiar trend in develop- ment of theatres, museums, concert organizations, libraries and so forth, having positive dynamics of development at the moment, the need for its update, both from the state and on the part of the institutions of culture is still one of the key issues of the development of this sector.
