Pharmacognosy as a methodological basis of evidential phytotherapy

In paper the pharmacognosy role as methodological basis of modern phytotherapy is discussed. It is shown that chemical classification of biologically active compounds of herbs is a methodological component of evidence-based phytotherapy. Dependence of pharmacological properties and chemical structures of substances and component structure of dosage forms is investigated. On the basis of results of the whole complex of chemical, analytical, technological and pharmacological researches of the herbs and substances allocated from vegetable raw materials the principles of modern phytotherapy are formulated.
