Seven species of amphibians and five of reptiles live in Valdai national park (N-W of Russia). The greatest diversity of them is observed in wetland habitats and gardens (8 species), as well as in deciduous, coniferous and mixed forests (7 species). Grass and moor frog are the most common species among amphibians. They are common and most abundant in many habitats of the national park. Common lizard is the commonest among reptiles of the National Park. The rarest species ( Pelobates fuscus, Pelophylax ridibundus, Anguis fragilis, and Coronella austriaca ) are proposed to be included into the forthcoming Red Data Book of the Novgorod Region.
