Federal innovation platform: the role and place of psychological service in higher education

Today, the priority for all educational institutions is the provision of high-quality psychological, pedagogical and social assistance to persons experiencing difficulties in mastering basic educational programs, development and social adaptation. Since 2021, the Smolensk State Medical University has been implementing the innovative project "Health of a freshman - HEALTH of a doctor - HEALTH of the nation!" One of the objectives of the project is the creation of a psychological service. Students of the medical university are a special group of students who are distinguished not only by the observance of strict ethical principles, but also by high responsibility and dedication. Identification, study and correction of psychological problems in students is a relevant and popular area of work of the psychological service of the university. This will help beginners to calmly go through adaptation in the first years, avoid difficulties associated with learning difficulties, increased mental stress and high pedagogical requirements. Timely provided psychological assistance will allow the student to go through the path of complex internal work on the development and selfeducation of personal and professional qualities. This paper presents the results of a survey conducted by the staff of the Department of Clinical Psychology to study the needs of the university in creating a psychological service. The respondents were 243 students of 1-6 courses of the Smolensk State Medical University of Medical, Pediatric, Dental, Pharmaceutical, Psychological and Social Faculty and Medical and Biological Faculty. The purpose of the work was to determine the needs of students of our university in the creation of a psychological service and to identify the main requests of students in its provision.
