Currently feminization of the monastic movement is one of the most important factors that have a significant influence on Buddhism in America. This is due to the increasing activity of women in monastic environment, education, science and their involvement in the course of deep reflection and search for new opportunities for social and spiritual development of society. Bhikshuni are engaged in various activities, participate in social significant projects, provide aid to vulnerable strata of population and develop charity. The American Buddhist nuns strive to find support in the revival of the bhikshuni ordination in the Tibetan tradition, and it is due to their efforts that a dialogue with the highest hierarchs of the Buddhist world has been established.
